
Mukund Nori
Mukund Nori, PhD, MBA, CMPPTM, Vice President Medical and Scientific Affairs: With over 20 years of experience in medical communications, Mukund has developed and implemented strategic publications plans and communication platforms for several drugs and devices. He has led teams in a wide spectrum of therapeutic areas including several rare diseases (amyloidosis, muscular dystrophy, familial adenomatous polyposis, Niemann Pick C disease, etc.), oncology, cardiovascular disease, rheumatology, dermatology, asthma, immunology, diabetes, aesthetic dermatology.
Prior to working in medical communications, Mukund spent over 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry developing drugs for the treatment of cancers, metabolic, and neurologic diseases. His research in oncology included work on breast cancer, prostate cancer, metastatic mechanisms, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and leukemias. His work on insulinotropic mechanisms led to a record of invention for an insulinotropic peptide. His preclinical work on multiple sclerosis paved the way to differentiate autoimmune processes involved in different forms of the disease and identifying potential therapeutic targets. He served as the Chair of the Ethics and Standards Committee of the International Society of Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) for 7 years. As a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Virginia, he demonstrated the link between ras, src, and MAP-kinase as a functional signaling pathway in cells.
With this combination of training in science, pharmaceutical drug development, and business, Mukund brings a rare perspective to publications ensuring that the strategic plan disseminates the information ethically, transparently, and effectively. He is the Senior Editor on Future Rare Diseases and on the editorial board of Therapeutic Advances In Rare Diseases. Outside work, he is a Rotarian and recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2012 (President Barack Obama).
